We had an amazing trip and cannot praise Onthego tours highly enough for the efficiency in always being met on time, the ease of the transfers, the interesting itinerary and the overall quality of the guides. Besides the guide in Varanasi, the guide, Sanjay, in Sikkim and Darjeeling was really good.
The only thing that went wrong and what no one could do anything about was the 12 hr train delay in leaving Varanasi, the 4 hr wait in a taxi, the 3.5 hr wait on a freezing station platform in the middle of the night and the 16 hr train journey which followed. We were in 2nd class and on reflection I would suggest that you only put travellers in first class. We were opposite a family with two young children who cried and screamed for most of the journey plus we had fleas and cockroaches in our berths. I'm just giving this for information as I know these are consequences of travel in certain parts of the world. Subsequently we lost a night's stay in Gangtok and had to pay ourselves for the hotel in Silaguri. The guide told us we should claim on our insurance. As it is about £20 each it is not worth the hassle but we do feel let down. We can laugh about the train now and it is an event to remember for ever! All in all the holiday was superb though, so many thanks.
