Welcome to Finland
27 December 2024. Upon your arrival at Kajaani Airport, you will be met and transferred to Hotel Kalevala. The scenic drive, spanning about an hour, will treat you to the breathtaking snowy landscapes of the Finnish countryside. Upon reaching the hotel, a refreshing Welcome Drink will be served before you check in.
As the evening unfolds, we come together to enjoy our first dinner, marking the beginning of your adventures in this winter wonderland.

Snow Games & Snowshoe Tour
After breakfast this morning, you'll get to know each other in the Guided Kalevala Snow Games, where cooperation, imagination, and joy take center stage in playful winter races. These activities are designed to bring everyone together in the spirit of fun and shared experiences.
Afterwards, we'll enjoy lunch before embarking on a 2-hour snowshoe tour, exploring the enchanting taiga forest and the shores of a frozen lake.
As the day winds down, consider indulging in an evening sauna experience, complemented by the hotel's indoor and outdoor Jacuzzis. Conclude the day with a satisfying dinner.

Sleigh Drives!
After breakfast, enjoy the thrill of husky, reindeer, and snowmobile sleigh drives, immersing yourself in the unique experiences each ride has to offer.
Recharge with lunch, before an afternoon of free time for optional activities. For those interested, consider joining our optional Meet Santa tour. Santa Claus, well-rested after a busy Christmas, invites guests to visit his office in Kuhmo.

Snowmobiling
After this morning's breakfast, embark on a 1-hour snowmobile safari, where you'll traverse the snowy landscapes surrounding the resort.
After lunch, afternoon is yours to shape as you wish. Engage in optional activities or take the opportunity to explore Kuhmo center, soaking in the local culture and charm.

New Year's Eve
Enjoy your last breakfast of the year before embarking on a short 15-minute transfer to Lentuankoski rapids. Here, witness the resilience of the white-throated dipper, a small bird that braves the freezing temperatures of winter. Join together to observe and capture photographs of this courageous bird, while enjoying hot juice and snacks served by an open fire.
Return to the hotel for lunch and time at leisure. In the evening, unwind and relax with a sauna session accompanied by jacuzzis, setting the perfect atmosphere for the festivities to come.
Partake in the tradition of tin casting in the lobby, an activity where the tin can supposedly reveal your future for the upcoming year.
The highlight of the evening awaits with the New Year Gala Dinner. Enjoy a night of live music, dancing, and a DJ to create an unforgettable atmosphere. As the clock nears midnight, move to the terrace for the countdown and a spectacular display of fireworks. The celebration continues inside the bar with dancing until the early hours, marking the beginning of a new year filled with joy and memories.

New Year's Day
Happy New Year! Enjoy brunch this morning, with the rest of the day at your leisure. Take this opportunity for a day of rest or engage in optional activities such as husky safaris, a ski tour, or even rapid swimming. If you prefer a more independent adventure, consider renting a ski set or snowshoes to explore the picturesque surroundings at your own pace.
In the evening, embark on a bus transfer to the New Year Concert at the Kuhmo Arts Centre.
Conclude the day with a delightful dinner, reflecting on your New Year's festivities in Finland!

Hotel Kalevela, Kuhmo
On the banks of Lake Lammasjarvi sits Hotel Kalevela - a beautiful family run hotel with on site spa. Guest rooms are comfortable with modern facilities. The hotel boasts a fantastic gourmet restaurant, 4 saunas and 2 hot tubs. The hotel can organise lots of activities like husky sledding, snow shoeing, cross country skiing etc. There is a lounge and fireplace for relaxing by and the hotel also provides kick sledges, toboggans and children's games to keep the whole family happy.

Absolutely amazing. Kalavela hotel is a holiday resort. It is picture perfect, and offers a large variety of activities. There are plenty of things to do for sporty people as well as the not-so-fit! The equipment is in very good condition and either free or available for rent at a low price. The food was interesting, exotic and tasty. The breakfast and dinner buffets were feasts. The New Year’s party was great and enjoyed by young and old. Great facilities for kids. The staff was helpful, friendly and caring. Please remind guests to bring a swimsuit, we forgot but the hotel had plenty that we could easily borrow. We spent quiye some time in the outside jacuzzi in subzero temperatures and snowfalls!! We saw that it was also possible to borrow snow suits and boots, for those who hadnt come prepared. An absolutely marvellous time!! ”
